01 / Crafter of solutions, mostly by accident.
I didn't start out in design. I spent my early career as a secondary school teacher, which meant I was constantly switching between being a leader, a facilitator, and just someone willing to listen. I wore many hats!
That rotation of roles taught me more about people than almost anything since.
02 / Former teacher, curious about software.
After teaching, I got curious about how websites actually worked, so I took an internship as a junior front-end developer. Learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript opened up a whole world I hadn't known existed!
That's also where I first heard about UX design, and once I found it, I didn't really look back.
03 / Always a student, even now.
UX ended up being the right fit because it let me use both sides of how I think. The part that wants to understand people, and the part that wants to build something that actually works for them.
04 / Outside of all that, I make things by hand.
When I'm not designing, I'm probably in my craft room. I work mostly with felt, fiber, and needlepunch embroidery, and in 2020 I turned that into a small handmade business called So What Studio. It's taught me a lot, mostly that good things can come from deciding to start before you feel ready.
